We would like to suggest some problems in this page, to start a debate. We believe that The worst problem is the POLITICAL SYSTEM which is a barrier to solving all other problems. However, since we are are not 100% aware of the day-to day-problems, our suggestions need a lot of refinement and tuning, WE HOPE THESE WILL COME FROM YOU OUR FELLOW EGYPTIANS LIVING IN EGYPT.
1. The POLITICAL SYSTEM The Political System in Egypt can be described in one word, DICTATORSHIP. This has been going on since July 1952 before which a quasi-dictaorship existed in the form of a MONARCHY, where the king rules "ABSOLUTELY". Interesting enough, Egyptians had more freedom and say in their own affairs under former king Farouk. When Nasser came to power he ruled, or made to believe, as absolute ruler together with most of the 1952 revolutionary Council. Come Sadat to reduce the revolutionary pack to a few and add some of his own cronies. Then he cleverly installed a Mickey-Mouse "Democracy look-alike "Tribal" regime. Most of the new came from Menoufia - Sadat's acclaimed birth district. And, to make the scene real, Sadat deliberately legalised opposition newspapers which were allowed only to "BARK". This System continued under Mubarak who ruled for 23 years so far, supported by his cronies from the National Deocratic Party (NDP) who included a number of the OLD GUARD- some were in power since Nasser's time. As the largest nation in the Arab world, the middle East and Africa, Egypt is not taking its political place in those areas. Much smaller countries like Syria are more assertive and influential. Countries like Lybia treats Egypt and its rulers with total contempt. When it comes to Israel, Egypt just exists- that is all. Outside the region, Egypt is considered no more than another state within the United States of America, but without the rights of those states. The consequences were detrimental to Egypt and the Egyptian People. Egypt needs a real democratic system that can be respected regionally and internationally. The thuggery practised by USA and its tails worldwide makes change in Egypt more urgent than ever. Otherwise, the Zionist plan for GREATER ISRAEL FROM THE ATLANTIC to THE GULF will see the light within the next decade or two at the most. A DEMOCRATIC EGYPT, led by a PRESIDENTIAL COUNCIL of SIX who rotate, with a Parliament representing ALL the EGYPTIANS, and an ELECTED, not appointed, GOVERNMENT is the ONLY WAY FORWARD.

2. CONSTITUTION & LAW Many egyptians are now talking about change and even a presidential election-something unheard of for the LAST 52 YEARS. There is one problem here. what would be the terms of such an election? The existing regime does not lend itself to a CLEAN ELECTION or FREE VOTING. So, what we will have is another CRONY, most probably Mubarak's son Gamal, and back to business as usual. That would be a WASTE OF TIME. Let us take a bit more time and do it properly. That means to change the constitution and the relevant laws that control and guide the election process in a way that guarantees its integrity. During the change period, an INTERIM COUNCIL including all the existing parties and a number of INDEPENDENT CANDIDATES should be in charge of Egypt. Even the existing corrupt National Democratic Party should be allowed to have a representation in the Interim Council. An Important duty of the council would be overseeing the process of change then the FREE ELECTIONS of a NEW DEMOCRATIC PARLIAMENT, PRESIDENT and GOVERNMENT. All that, of course, means that Mubarak should step down as soon as possible. Time is against Egypt. Leaving things as they are means disaster.
