SUPPORTING DEMOCRATIC  CHANGE IN EGYPT

Most Egyptians abroad agree that Egypt is in a big MESS. Recent cosmetic change in Government to please the Bush Administration will not help some 70 million suffering Egyptians. The trouble with Egypt lies right at the top- a MILITARY DICTATORSHIP in the core.

Egypt which has never known the meaning of FREE ELECTIONS needs one badly. That comedy theatre called Maglis Al-Shaaab (Peoples Assembly) has no place in this century, so is a PRESIDENT who inherited the presidency and now wants his son to inherit it after him.
Egyptians deserve better than a DYNASTY of REMANENTS of the 1952 REVOLUTION which bragged about getting rid of the king and his CRONIES. What does Egypt have now: Mubarak and his cronies or, shall we say, Safwat El Sherif  and his cronies or Kamal El Shazli and his cronies or Yousef CORRUPT Wali and his cronies, or.., or...,. There are too many of them sucking Egypt's wealth and running Egypt as if it is their own farm and treating the Egyptians as SHEEP.

It is time for Egypt to clean its act, before AN IRANIAN STYLE REVOLUTION SWEEPS OUT THE LOT. The prevailing  INJUSTICE, OPRESSION and POVERTY are basic ingredients for such a revolution.

That is why EGABA was formed. WE WANT TO HELP EGYPT and OUR FELLOW COUNTRY MEN and WOMEN. THE WHOLE WORLD KNOWS HOW GREAT WAS EGYPT and WE WANT THAT TO BE THE CASE NOW. EGYPT HAS HUGE RESOURCES WHICH, IF UTILISED PRUDENTLY, SHOULD MAKE IT A LEADING WORLD POWER- AND IT CAN BE DONE.

WE, EGYPTIANS, MUST NOT DENIGRATE OURSELVES BECAUSE WE ARE, AND HAVE BEEN FOR LONG, GOVERNED BY ROTTEN REGIMES. IT IS UP TO US, THE 99.5% MAJORITY, TO CLEAN OUR COUNTRY. IF WE DON'T, EGYPT WILL NEED A MIRACLE TO ESCAPE MUCH MORE MISERY.

MUBARAK WANTS to STICK

Friday 14 January 2005

Today, in an interview with American TV Channel BBS, President Mubarak indicated that he is ready to continue as President. But he said that will only happen if the Egyptian people want him to do so.

Good stuff, and well said, Hosni. However, do you really think that the MASSES WANT YOU TO STAY? Come on Hosni. You must know damn well that most of the people want to SEE YOUR BACK. NOT only you, but the rest of your gang- Elsherif, El Shazli, etc.

Mr President, the HUNGRY MASSES in Egypt want, for a change, a government that works for them, not for America and Britain. They want a President who listens to them, not to the BBS and the BBC. They want a system that is FAIR and JUST, not a GESTAPO OPPRESSIVE MILITARY DICTATORSHIP. They want their share of the BIG EGYPTIAN CAKE which has been, since 1952, exclusive to the REVOLUTIONARY GUARD and their CRONIES.

Mr President, we keep asking you to GO, why don't you listen? You are 77 years old, and you know that RETIREMENT AGE in Egypt is 60, so why do you think you should get MUCH MORE than 72 Million Egyptians- UNLESS YOU THINK YOU ARE A VERY SPECIAL SUPER MAN.
MR President, CHAMPIONS QUIT while they are at the TOP. BAD LOSERS ONLY LEAVE BECAUSE THEY HAVE BEEN KNOCKED DOWN and CAN'T GET UP. DON'T BE A BAD LOSER.

CINEMA CENSORSHIP in EGYPT

WHY WAS
MICHAEL MOORE'S FILM
FAHRENHEIT 9/11  RESTRICTED
IN EGYPT

Moore's film is a clear attack on G.W. Bush and his war mongers gang in Washington. This makes the film a difficulty for the Mubarak regime in Cairo, who want to stay on the good books of the American administration. In doing so, they hope that the Americans will side by the regime when the enivitable Islamic revolution in Egypt flashes.
Mubarak's regime, who have taken the Egyptian people for granted for 23 years, seems to forget that the American administration have no friends except the DOLLAR. They have let down many, who thought they were friends, all over the world. The nearst, in Egypt itself, was former president Anwar El Sadat who was assasinated by non but the American establishment itself after he completed his role of making a treaty with the Zionists in Tel Aviv and after he lost popularity internally in Egypt-  a plot which Mubarak was part of. Then was the poor Shah of Iran who could not, with all the billions he accumulated, find a country to die in. The Americans were the first to deny him shelter despite his total loyalty to them. And now we have the Royal family in Saudi about to have the same fate as the American establishment are attacking bthem for ABUSING HUMAN RIGHTS. WHY NOW? because the House of Saud has lost its popularity in Saudi Arabia- Exactly as they did with Sadt, the Shah of Iran and many others.
The usually sharp scissors of the Egyptian Government Cinema Censorship did not this time touch Moore's film, but it used another tactic. Knowing that most Egyptians can't afford more than a certain amount of money for entertainment, that is if they can at all, the Government allowed showing Fahrenheit 9/11 on a very narrow scale in selected elite Cinemas in well off places like Maadi where most wealth Egyptians live. They later allowed the film in Cairo centre in very expensive places such as Shearton Hotel. Such measures guarantee that 99.9% of the Egyptian people will never know about the film.
And to dilute the effect of the film, just in case some words might leak here or there, an Arabic film, starred by the famous popular comedian Adel Emam, was shown all over the country at "affordable ticket price" at the same time. The Arabic film is one of those encouraged by the Mubarak regime to show that films can criticise the Egyptian Establishment- that is "DEMOCRACY the EGYPTIAN WAY"- something many Egyptian intellectuals reject and consider as an insult to Egyptians' intelligence.
What is very interesting is that Egyptian newspapers seem to be either under pressure not to talk about Moore's film or that they can't afford the ticket price. But if one accepts that argument for the STATE NEWSPAPERS such as AL-AHRAM, AL-AKHBAR and Al-GOMHUREIA why are the so called "OPPOSITION" newspapers SILENT?. Something nasty must be going on in Egypt.
UNTIL such time when EGYPT becomes FREE, its great PEOPLE are RESPECTED and its Government is ELECTED THROUGH A FREE ELECTION, underground ISLAMIC MOVEMENT WILL GROW, GATHER MOMENTUM and EVENTUALLY COME OUT OF THE BOTTLE. THEN IT WILL BE IMPOSSIBLE TO PUT THE GENII BACK INTO THE BOTTLE. THAT TIME IS NOT FAR- it is WHEN, NOT IF, THIS WILL HAPPEN.

Letter to Hosni Mubarak
Published in   www.indvoice.com

It seems that a number of our visitors have misunderstood the contents of that letter. We would like now to answer all of their concerns and criticism to clear the way for better understanding in the future.
We did not attack Mubarak in person. What we attacked was President Mubarak. He is the "LEADER" and he is responsible, more than anyone, for the MESS in Egypt.
Some people say that Mubarak does not know everything and that he can't. This we know well, but he must be able to see some of the of MESS and, then, ask questions and make people accountable. Has he done any of that? NO.
Others say that Gamal Mubarak is a hard working, enthusiastic, intelligent and patriotic young man who is entitled as anybody else to contest a general election. So why deny him that right?
We have no problem with all of that. Our problem is two fold: First, how many millions in Egypt are better than, or at least similar to, Gamal Mubarak who have NO JOB and NO prospect for one, let alone contesting a presidential election?
Second; Keeping it in the family is something a kin to MONARCHIES not REPUBLICS. Egypt had a Monarchy and got rid of it in 1952- why should we have another one now? Mubarak senior has been in power for 24 years, preceded by SEVEN as Vice to Sadat. If Gamal Mubarak becomes president, it means that Egypt could be under the Mubarak DYNASTY for HALF A CENTURY at least. That would surely put the finishing sting in Egypt.

Our letter was written, in good faith, asking Mubarak to step down peacefully because we, from our remote location here, can see trouble. We feel that Egypt is sitting on a time bombshell. We don't want Cairo to be another Baghdad, Beirout or Kabul. None of us wants more than seeing Egypt peacefull and prosperous.

Editor's Word

Today, Nile TV presented an interview with two members of the Egyptian Parliament. It is difficut to use the name "People's Assembly" because it is NOT, it is actually an Assembly of the ruling National "Democratic" Party (NDP).

The interviewees were Ahmad Kamal "Independent" member of the Parliament and Atef El-Ashmony, member from NDP. The interview was full of questions that look amicable and to the point. However, the answers were not convincing, lacked  verifiable figures and missed most of the points.

One understands that such programmes are orchestrated and, probably, ordered by the Government. The "Independent" MP tried hard to put some valid points such as the total silence on the part of NDP about UNEMPLOYMENT and the EXTREMELY HIGH PRICES of COMMODITIES in EGYPT. But, of course, even him had to keep a low profile and was nnot able to challenge the Government head-on. On the other hand, Ashmony the NDP MP who is also memeber of the NDP Central Committee was waffling about Governemnt achievements and the NEW Nazif's Government in particular giving little qualification of what he said.

The likes of Ashmony, and there are many of them, the main beneficiaries of the Egyptian regime, are behind the shambles in Egypt. Unless all those parasites are removed, there is NO HOPE on Earth for the Egyptian people to have any better lives than the misery they have now.

Changing CHEMICAL ALI to CHEMICAL MAJID does not make any differnce. Egypt needs the REMOVAL of ALL CHEMICALS, That is the BENEFICIARIES, the PARASITES and POODLES of the AUTHORITY. (25 December 2004)

FREE ELECTIONS

is the BEGINNING

of REFORM

Opposition parties are talking today about a public gathering at Aabdin Square to demand REFORM. Sounds good but:

v    what exactly do they mean by REFORM?
v    who are they asking for REFORM?
v    have the parties agreed an AGENDA?
v
Do they have a plan for EGYPT
        AFTER MUBARAK
?

        . . . . continued on REFORMING EGYPT page

UNEMPLOYMENT

Governments Can't Create Jobs,

BUSINESSES Can

The NEW Government promised the creation of 650,000 jobs in a short period. This drop in the ocean of what Egyptians need could be a useful step in the right direction if implemented FAIRLY.
However, recent incidents have shown the difficulties in application when appointments were cancelled or changed by back handers or corrupt officials. Therefore, before embarking on such a massive programme of public service employment, it is important to establish strict guide lines and rules for the process which can be monitored and verified.
But the Government can not, and should not, employ every one in the country just to absorb unemployment. The Government and its agencies should creat an environment in which all employers, including PRIVATE COMPANIES, are able to employ  many of the workforce in productivity and profitability based projects. This should in turn support a sustainable economy and job market.
There is no substitute, however, for an active sizeable SMALL BUSINESS sector to tackle unemployment. Experience in countries such as Britain have shown that this might be the main way forward despite being full of problems.

Getting people to start their own businesses is a major endeavour but it can be implemented in Egypt if the will is there.

Almost SIX Million Egyptians are UNEMPLOYED, many of whom are university graduates who can't see any light at the end of the tunnel of that SOCIAL EVIL.
Since the Egyptian economy is virtually in  COMA, and the government cares less, the only hope for that army of unemployed Egyptians is running their own private business or leaving the country to work abroad. Both are near dream answers because: first; most of those people don't have the essential skills to run their own business and, if some do, they won't be able to get the neccessary finance for their ventures.
Those who would love to leave the country are faced with formiddable problems from financing the travel and initial expenses in the host countries to getting legal residencestatus, jobs and work permits; that is if they could manage to get an entry visa to the host country to start with.
And, now with the WAR on TERROR in action, Egyptian Muslims will find travelling to America, Australia, Canada, Britain and Europe almost impossible- even if they have relatives there.

01 November 2004 QUESTION

Gamal Mubarak in London

What was Gamal Mubarak doing in LONDON last October?

Why was the visit a VERY LOW PROFILE ONE?

Did Gamal seek advice and support of Blair?

Is Britain a possible exile destination for the Mubaraks?

Did Gamal explore British PROPERTY MARKET?

Watch this space for more . .

EGYPTIAN ECONOMY

FIGURES TALK
MORE THAN
POLITICAL RHETORIC

WHO ACTUALLY LEADS EGYPT?

WHY IS EGYPT IN SUCH AN ECONOMIC MESS?

IS PRIME MINISTER  MR "CLEAN" ABLE TO STAND UP TO GAMAL MUBARAK?

WILL MR CLEAN'S GOVERNMENT RESCUE MUBARAK'S CRUMBLING ROTTEN REGIME?

WILL MR "CLEAN" BE A REAL PRIME MINISTER or JUST A DUMMY?

WHY DID MR "CLEAN" ACCEPT ROTTEN MINISTERS FROM THE ROTTEN SHURA COUNCIL?

WHY DOES MUBARAK ATTEND MEETINGS OF MINISTERIAL COUNSIL?

DOES MUBARAK UNDERSTAND or EVEN APPRECIATE ECONOMIC FIGURES?

WHAT, and IF, TIME SCALE WAS GIVEN TO MR "CLEAN" TO DELIVER?

Figures coming out of Egypt show TOTAL FAILURE of the MUBARAK REGIME.
A REGIME that COULD NOT MAKE IT IN 23 YEARS HAS TO GO.

DROP THE LIARS

Egypt should deal with other countries as equal, no matter what. Bad "leaders", especially those who have no respect from their own citizens, such as LIAR Tony Blair are no good for their own country let alone EGYPT. Therefore, any prospective Egyptian government should DROP those so called "leaders" while keeping good terms with the citizens of those countries. We should not punish people because they have a bad Government or leader.
DROPPING Blair should not mean dropping Britain or the British people. Egypt should deal with other countries and their nationals on their own merirts.
